How to Make a Wooden Tool Box
Materials:
- Wooden block 250 mm X 60 mm X 15 mm
- Wooden bock 90 mm X 15 mm 220 mm
- Dow longer than 220 mm
Tools
- Tenon saw
- Hand plane
- Drill press
- Chisel
- Hand router
- Disc sander
- Band saw
- Wooden hammer
- PVA glue
Method:
- Mark the 250 mm X 60 mm X 15 mm wooden block like shown in the diagram.
- Saw off the corners with a tenon saw, do not cut directly on the line, leave about 5 mm to plane off.
- Sand the edge to make it smoother
- Drill out the circles that are marked with a drill press.
- Use the band saw to saw the block in the middle.
- Measure 220 mm from the edge of the dow.
- Saw off the marking with a tenon saw.
- Grab the 90 mm X 15 mm 220 mm wooden block and mark 7mm down and 15mm from that point to the edge on both sides. This will be the sides for the toolbox.
- Mark a line through the middle of the block.
- Saw down to the 7mm line on both sides.
- Chisel away the 15mm line.
- Optional: use a hand router to smooth out the chiseling.
- Check if the wood blocks fit together, if not, fix it.
- Use a band saw to cut the line in the middle.
